After making Jeff's rub I put it into a Parmesan shaker and it works great.

I just finished the mustard base then the rub on 7 Baby Back Ribs that I am going

to smoke on Saturday, I also made a batch of his BBQ sauce for those that want it.

I used to use a binder but the rub always seemed to just fall off after the smoke, kind of just made a crust. I think I might have been using too much. Now I pat them very dry with paper towels and just use a light coating right on the meat and I have got a lot better flavor penetration to the meat and the rub doesn't fall off after the smoke. I do the same for butts and other whole cuts of meat.

The shaker is a nice idea. I have rubbed directly and used mustard and like both. If I am on my game and have time, I rub directly on the meat and rest. If the smoke is a last minute deal, mustard gets used to help hold the rub...JJ
