Grew up listening to loved Mr Roy D Mercer. Sadly, he has has passed away.
His prank calls are hilarious and this one does have 1 cuss word used.
**Mods delete if you deem it necessary and I apologize !

This clip has him calling the wrestling star and Ga boy Goldberg.

Oh yeah. I remember those prank calls well! They used to play them on morning radio out of Atlanta a long time ago. Heard an uncensored tape of them also. Good stuff!

For any who don't know, Roy D Mercer was the invention of two Tulsa Rock n Roll radio DJs - Phil Stone and Brent Douglas. They hosted a morning show on KMOD radio for around 30 years...called the Morning Zoo with Phil and Brent. They had a bunch of hilarious skits and schticks...but none were funnier than the Roy D Mercer prank calls! Brent was the voice of R.D. and the comic genius of the duo...Phil usually played the straight man in their bits. Their radio show ended when Phil Stone passed away nearly 15 years ago. It's sad to hear that Brent's gone now too.

I've lived in the Tulsa area most of my life. Listening to the Morning Zoo was a regular routine for me for many years. Always loved their humor.

RIP Brent Douglas!

Another of Phil and Brent's morning show skits that always cracked me up was their Greek Theater routine. Always full of double entendres.

I'll post an example here...and if the mods think it's inappropriate, sorry and please delete. But keep in mind this was broadcast on live radio...

That is some funny stuff. I lived in the DC area during the Greaseman era. Sitting in traffic you could tell who was listening by the obvious laughter and smiles on their faces. He had funny alternative words for dirty words he could get away with using on radio. I wont get in to defining them here but if you were a fan you knew the alternative dictionary. If you dont, some of the jokes might go over your head.

This was back in the 80's. Red says these DJs stopped doing skits 15 years ago and did their show for thirty years. That would put them beginning around 1980. Greaseman came to DC in 1982. So he and these Morning Zoo fellas were doing much of the same stuff. Wonder who copied who or if it was just all spontaneous similarity or they knew each other...or something.

It occurred to me when I listened to the skit Greek Theater Red shared. Greaseman did something just like this.

As with many of the comedians I grew up listening to, I will never forget Greaseman and his vocabulary still sticks with me. Sometimes I say stuff that is second nature to me, then realize someone who barely knows me must think I'm crazy or flat out stupid!
