This looks like a pretty interesting idea. You could probably build one without to much trouble if you left out the dog house looking part of it.

Jeff gave this rig a good review, so it has to be a good design.

Pretty cool, basically a hopped up UDS.

If ya loose the roof and walls, it is a UDS.........

Call me frugal, OK cheap, but I can't imagine anyone spending that kind of coin for what amounts to a grill in a trashcan, even if it does look like snoopy could shoot down the Red Baron with it.

I would probably wonder about the price to if I had not used it. Understandable.

I have the thing going right now and for the 2nd time in about 4 hours I have not been able to resist the urge to go check on it and it is holding an absolute 225 degrees with 2 chimneys of charcoal.

I have pecan and mesquite sticks on top of the coals.. smoking 2 large chickens and couple racks of baby backs..

(My youngest daughter's birthday party tonight)

I don't know what the secret is.. I have not been able to put my finger on it but I have never seen a charcoal smoker that could hold a temperature this true for this long without some type of device blowing air on it or something.

I guess I am easily amused but to me that is pretty amazing.. even for a UDS

I just report it as I see it.. in the end some will like it and some will think it is just a high priced UDS and that is perfectly ok

Doing a little research on drum smokers and found this thread. I've got a weber kettle and purchased a Smokenator to use with it and I'm able to keep a constant temp for 4 - 6 hours without having to mess with it. No blowers or anything. Pretty impressed comsidering I spent about $40 for it.
