Yep, another steak thread. With Tracy's food preferences we tend to eat a lot of steaks, which I'm perfectly fine with. As I've tried catching up on some stuff the past week and a half or so I've been doing them in order they were cooked and this is next in line....sort of. Had the SIL and two nephews fly into town for the 4th from KC for a couple days. We weren't sure about the weather or the agenda so just kinda shot from the hip. Decided to take the boat out for a couple hours then the plan was to come back to the house, hang out, and I was gonna make a really nice dinner. Wound up spending a LOT more time on the lake than we'd originally planned so did an abbreviated version of what I wanted to do for dinner, and I mean really abbreviated. With time being very short I just did the rib eyes, sour cream chive and garlic mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, and a nice salad. Very simple, very basic, but it came out really well.
4 CPB rib eyes I cut from a 103 sub primal rib section. Total weight of the steaks was exactly 5 pounds
Seasoned with the Dirt Rub
On the Weber directly over the coals to flash blast them...plus I was in a hurry
Done and into the house to rest while I got the last of the things ready. These are looking pretty good
The whole spread. See? I wasn't kidding when I said it was a basic dinner and this is about as basic as it can get
My dinner plate....finally. I'm starving at this point
Sliced shot. I'm happy.
Although basic there was no lack of food. The steaks were all within an ounce of each other in weight. Tracy and her sister split one, each of the nephews and I got one for ourselves. The girls had a couple bites left for Bianca but the boys and I ate every last bite of ours. No pic but from there we broke out the Blue Belle vanilla ice cream and the bourbon peaches I got from TNJAKE in our Christmas exchange. WHOA BABY!! Those things aren't for the meek of heart but they sure paired well with the ice cream. This was the first taste of bourbon the boys had ever had so their mom was standing vigil to make sure they didn't overdo it but it sure was an interesting and outstanding dessert. Thank you once again Jake!!
Well, gonna call this one a wrap. Y'all take care, stay safe, and remain diligent. We aren't out of the woods yet. See everybody on the next one.
