Great idea chp, I'm certainly going to put some in the bottom of the fire box as that should help too.
What size firebricks would you use? I think in the firebox will help, but the chamber would also be a good idea.

The size readily available for me is 4 1/2” x 9” x 1 1/4”. So they can be stacked. What sizes do you have available to you locally?

We can get the 9”x4”x1” size in the UK
I think the fire box is the most important but some in the chamber can only help, as long as it doesn’t interfere with airflow that is.
