All-
I recently moved from Milwaukee, WI, to Austin, TX in 2007. As much as I love Wisconsin Austin is one of the coolest places to live. In 2010 we moved to OKC, not the coolest place to live.... In fact ridiculously HOT, however both have some awesome BBQ places, which started my desire to become a smoker. In 2012 i moved back to WI but to the West Bend area (north of milwaukee). My neighbor in Austin Wallace would teach me how to smoke brisket but since I did not have my own smoker I was watching more than anything.

This past weekend I picked up a used New Braunfels smoker company ( in eagle river, wi). After a bit of research I think it is just a grill as it does not have a fire box. It looks like a Hondo but no firebox. I'm a bit bummed now. I bought it for 35 bucks and put about 4 hours of manual labor in cleaning it up so I am not out a bunch of money. But I want to know if I can add a fire box to this? Or can I smoke without a firebox? As I stated I am new to the process but I know I want to do it.

Any help anyone can give me I would greatly appreciate. Thanks
