Would appreciate any help anyone could give me relative to settings on an Auber temp control. Have printed out instruction manual, but it is mostly over my head. Are you there, Mark??? Have not been able to locate a copy of Auber Controls For Dummies. Ernie

which controller do you have ? The SV (set value, temp you want ) and the PV (present value, temp in cook chamber) should be the 2 numbers showing... just use the up/down arrows to change the SV to the temp you want to smoker to be ....

Thanks  for the reply, Keith. My controller is # SYL-2352. I expected it to work as you describe. My PV display is reading ambient temperature. The SV is alternating between the number I set it at and Stop. I have the unit wired as follows- line  - power on#9, neutral on #10 . Instruuctions say there is no internal power between #7 &8, so I powered #8. My unit draws 12.5  Amps, so I used a relay in between. I ran #7 to the coil on the relay, and the other side of the coil to neutral. The load is powered constantly no matter where I set the SV. I am wondering if I have a faulty unit. Thanks Much, Ernie  P.S. Have type K thermocouple wired + #4 and - #5

I have the same controller... I am confused on what your saying about powering #8 .... If I am reading your post right... you are putting power IN the #8 terminal ??? If so this may very well have ruined the controller.... 7 and 8 go OUT to your SSR... #7 going to your Pos. on SSR and #8 going to the Neg ... terminals 7 and 8 are DC, hence the Neg. and Pos. terminals... You then wire your heating element to the other side of the SSR... Black (hot) wire going to the SSR and then from SSR to the heating element... your white (neutral) goes straight to the other side of the heating element ...

as far as the readout reading SV and STOP (alternating between the two) ... this means the program has been stopped... there is 2 ways to go into the STOP mode... the first one is when a StEP time is set to -121... the second way (and more than likely what happened) is... holding the ^ key (up arrow) for more than 2 seconds.... to restart the program when in "stop" mode (which will start at StEP 1) is by holding the down arrow for more than 2 seconds ...

Thank you, Keith !! Holding down arrow did get it out of the stop mode. This is where I am now. If I push up or down, I do not get decimal point, and can not adjust SV. SV is set at 60. If I increase heat at thermocouple, the output indicator goes out, but the heater remains powered. Unit is wired according to diagram # 5.1 on page 6/8 of instruction manual. I contacted Auber Tech , and they sent me a supplementary instruction  sheet of which I can understand nothing. Seems like I am in over my head. Thanks for your help. Ernie

yea... Dia. 5.1 is not for your controller.... You want Dia. 5.3 (figure 8) that is for the SYL-2352... as for the supplementary directions those are for setting up your programs.. whether it would be for a steady/set temp or to ramp temps up over a set time period... wait... the 2352 doesn't have the ramp feature, does it ? ... check those supplementary directions and see If they aren't for the "P" models only ?? If so disregard them ....

GRRRRR.. just realized you have the 2352... I have the 2352P.. wiring is still the same tho...

We'll gt ya figured out ...

Thank you for the reply, Keith. Yes, my unit does have the Ramp/ Soak feature although I don't have a clue what that is,and I'm sure I don't need it anyway. Right after my last post I realized unit must be in manual mode to adjust SV. Thanks for your help and patience. Ernie P.S. I am not using SSR. Am using a relay I use on my job. My relay uses a separate 110V circuit to control relay where the SSR has its own internal power source and only needs the circuit to be completed to operate

No, but some of these things are beginning to make some sense to me. I think the whole thing is to get this thing programmed . I probably won't get to work on it for a few days, But I have a few things I want to try. I couldn't figure out how to enter the codes. Do you bring up the code e.g. P-SH on the PV and then enter the number they give you ??? If so must you then push Set ? I really appreciate your help.  Ernie

Ernie... it should work straight out of the box without changing any settings/codes... I'm confused on your wiring... something just not sounding right....

Hi, Keith, we are finally making some progress !!! First off, you were correct about the wiring. Most of the info in that instruction manual is for 2342. Since it covered both I assumed the diagrams were for both (at this stage I should know not to assume ). As far as working out of the box, I most likely screwed the default settings up trying to get it to work. I have ordered an SSR. Unit is now operating in cooling mode. If I enter the code for heat they give you, it comes up in Selsius. In the cooling mode they give two different codes for Fahrenheit and Selsius, but only one for heat. I will try entering different numbers later to see if I get lucky. Thanks for your perseverance!!  Ernie

Halleluja!! I found the magic number, and it seems to be working. When the SSR comes I feel sure everything will work. Will advise of outcome. Thank you so much for your help, I don't think I would have ever figured it out alone. Ernie

good deal.. glad it's working out so far.... after you get your SSR and get everything going... feel the back of the SSR and see how hot it is (be careful they get pretty hot)... you might want to put a heat sink on it .... that helps get rid of the heat from the SSR ....

Thanks for the info, Keith. When I get to that point I will probably holler for help again. (maybe even BEFORE I get myself in trouble)  Ernie

Hi, Keith. Got my SSR today. Hooked it up, and it is working. The only thing is the manual says that if I push up/down momentarily the decimal will flash. I must push A/M to make that happen. Not a big deal, because it works this way. Ernie

great.. glad to hear ... what I did just to learn (which I'm still doing) the controller... Just hook a power cord, the thermocouple, and the SSR up to it (not the heat element).. took it in the house and plugged it in and then sat down with the instructions and played with it.... If you change any parameters just remember what it was before you changed it just in case you have to set it back to that setting ... the only reason I hooked up the SSR was to see If the light comes on when the controller asked for heat ....

good luck with it ....

Thanks Keith. I did the light bulb thing too. That was after I discovered you can't just power the relay and test for continuity.  Ernie
