My new build since Hurricane Laura destroyed my old trusty 4x4 plywood smokehouse. This one is 4x8 and 7.5ft tall. All rough cut pine. Inside and outside have been charrwed with a torch. Seeking advice for Weatherproofing the exterior, and any good ideas for heat/smoke source. So far I'm leaning toward a 55gal drum external fire box with a stove pipe going into the house. Thanks in advance for any good ideas. Pics of my actual smokehouse, and my plan for firebox.

I live on the gulf coast. Right on the beach at the TX/LA border.

I went with propane burner in mine. Lots of guys have gone with electric. Propane probably isn’t the safest but up here in the mountains of Colorado the winters are fairly cold and I felt like I needed the Btu’s. I’m happy. Nice job on your smoker.
