Myself and some friends are heading to Auburn, AL this weekend for the Aubern/Miss State game. Anyone have any recommendations for some good BBQ joints or other places to eat?

Thanks in advance

Doug

Gator fan here! But every  year myself and some friends travel to a non-gator SEC game, usually with UF is away but plans got a little mixed up this year.

Any SEC team is alright in my book, we have the hardest and best conference!

Doug,

I went to Auburn and graduated in 2007.  It's a great town with some great barbecue options.  Unfortunately I joined this website today (one day after the game... go figure, right?).  Where did you end up going?  My favorites are the Barbecue House on College Street and then Chuck's (southern carolina-style) in neighboring Opelika, Alabama.  I'm salivating just reminiscing about it!  I'll say it this way, I live in Central Alabama and my parents live just south of Atlanta.  Every time I drive home to visit, my dad requests that I stop by Chucks and bring him some 'cue.  Haha.

Anyways, I hope you found some great smoked goodies, and if not, you'll know where to go next time!

Same here. Always pull for the SEC teams if they are not playing the Tigers.
Thanks for the info! We actually went to Barbeque House. I really enjoyed my Lunch byt my friends didnt :/ I got the chopped pork with coleslaw and brunswick soup. A few of my friends got the sliced pork and i did try it and i wasn't very impressed with it, kinda dry and tough. Also my one friend got the baked beans and they tasted straight out of  can. So i rack my order up as a win haha!

I found out after the fact there was a Jim N Nicks there and that's a place i've been wanting to check out. So missed out on that because i ran out of time.

I'm glad you had a good order, but it's a shame for your friends' order, though.  I'm sure a lot of my preference for BBQ House comes from nostalgia from my college years there, especially being right there on campus... and I'm not the only one.  I was in my college roommate's wedding last year and his only task for me as groomsman was to bring him a half-gallon container of sauce from the BBQ House for his rehearsal dinner.  Haha.
