Hello all,

I joined because I recently got an electric smoker and I want to use it more than I have used the smokers I have had in the past. I live in northeast Arkansas. I have used smokers, for a little over 30 years. I haven't ever used them very much. I have mainly used them to smoke turkey's for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I purchased a Charbroil Simple Smoker. It is an electric smoker. I have always used charcoal in the past. I got it set up yesterday and smoked some burgers, a chicken and some veggies. The burgers turned out wonderful. The chicken was undercooked. The veggies didn't get soft enough. I think I know what the problem with the chicken was. I also think that I just prefer veggies from the steamer vs. the smoker.

Right now I want to get an inexpensive piece of beef and give that a try this coming weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi there and welcome to the site. For beef I like doing chuck steaks and smoking them to about 205* for pulling. Currently they're about 2.99lb. around here.

Welcome glad to have you on board. Sounds like you didn't cook your chicken long enough. Breast meat to 165 thighs to 175.

Welcome Hawg. Around here tritips are very easy to get. They do not take long to cook and have terrific flavor. It is always a go to for me when I want something quick and tasty.

Welcome! this site is a great resource of info, both before, and during your cooks! yeah, chicken is tricky in a smoker, you gotta run a probe and go by IT....
