I have a cured pork belly I have been cold smoking for bacon. I toying with the thought of cutting off a hunk to make burnt ends with. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it turn out?

Never tried it or thought of it, but bacon burnt ends sounds kind of good. I hope you give this a try.

These are the best I have ever had. Reminded me that I need to get back to Ft. Worth ASAP.

Edit to add that I am talking about the real ones from Heim. I have not tried this guys re creation recipe.

They are awesome! Sometimes a local place will have jowl bacon on sale for $0.99 lb. And I'll buy a bunch up to cube up for this. Check out the video on Malcolm Reed's site (hiw to bbq right) thats basicly how I do them.

Do it and post up a thread...would like to try this myself.

I will be sitting in the fish house all weekend on Mille Lacs Lake (MN).
Need something to do besides fish so I am bringing the GMG Davey Crocket. I will post pics.

I made the mistake of trying it salt pork (the only pork belly my local grocery store had at the time and it was super cheap). Turned out absolutely miserable though haha.
