Ok my Dad calls me about 9 last night said lightning had hit the house. I asked if they were ok he said yea. Has the fire department left yet I ask he says they weren't here. Grrrr hag up Dad and call them since you are disabled and I know you ain't looked for any fire I'll be right there. You don't need to come over right now I'll call them. So he calls me back at 10 after the fire dept left no fire but the telephone box that was hanging outside the garage is out in the lawn bout 20' away. Ceiling fans and lights are out, Microwave is out, 1 TV is out, but everything else appears ok we're tired we'll see you tomorrow son. 12:30 a.m. phone rings its Dad we got no water and I rode my electric wheelchair outside and got water bubbling up out of the ground. Ok Dad I'll be right there no son thats alright I'll turn off the breaker to the pump and see you in the morning. Well I did a big smoke yesterday so bout 1:15 I finish up read the forum for a bit and try to get some sleep. 3 a.m. phone rings its Dad son I can't sleep and got to thinking you think you can fix the water in the morning cause it'll be Sunday Fathers Day how am I gonna get a plumber if you can't fix it. Dad I'll handle it don't worry go to sleep I'll see you in the morning. 4:30 phone rings grrr now what duh wrong number. Finally got a little sleep and went to Dad's this morning and dug up the leaky spot which was right under a light post in the front yard. Evidently the surge followed the electric line out to the post which was put into the same ditch as the water line going to the pump it fried the wire and exploded the PVC pipe. A quick run to Home Depot for a couple things and I have the water flowing again of course it was storming again before I could get it fixed so I finished it in the rain and lightning. The bottom line is the house took big strike but no fire. Took out all phones and lines some electrical wiring, computer, and the other stuff above, got a shock out by the repaired water line but was only 110 so probably insulation on one of the pump wires (hard to see in pouring rain and mud). Why the microwave was so important I don't know but plugged into a ext. cord and it works so more wiring problems. Overall very lucky.
Sorry for the long rant I'm tired and didn't get the fattys done I was so looking forward to today and its storming like crazy still. Dad did get the 2 butts that I smoked and vacu-packed for him yesterday and has a microwave to heat it with even tho he has a steamer. Everyone is safe and sound so lives good.
