Getting to that time of year when I like to cook outside with a dutch oven.

I don't get to do it ad often as I like, so I don't have the charcoal numbers memorized.

Saved this chart from Lodge on my phone.

Hopefully some of you who use charcoal briquettes and have a memory like mine will find this useful.

Nice! In a week or so, I will cook either another whole chicken or a few Cornish Game Hens.
 
I bought a charcoal grate for an Old Smokey grill / smoker . Fits in a Weber kettle . I'm planning on using it as a base , and use the kettle to hold the fire / D.O.

Thanks for posting this Bill! It's a handy guide if you use charcoal.
Wife and daughter made apple crisp in dutch oven while at rendezvous over Labor day. Just using coals from the fire... she's done it enough that she has it down.

Well, actually made two. Will add for things like this, she uses an inverted tin pie pan underneath the apple crisp to keep it off the bottom and from burning.
