Didn't do much convincing on where to buy; it arrived today. Total Cost: with saw, blades, tax and shipping, $62.75! Good standard meat saw, same as what I'd used in countless meatrooms when the saw was broken down and cleaned and had to get sirloins or chops or country style ribs, whatever necessary. One time had to hand cut and saw 12 flatbone sirloins ¾" thick for a customer just before going home one night, including breaking down 3 more hinds to get enough loins to do them from - you get to know a knife and saw reaaall well doing that! (It was when I was at a store in Alexandria Bay resort area in the 1000 Islands and boats could dock near the store - these were 5 million $ boats.. not dinghys for sure! It was SOP to get someone 20 or 30 Ribeyes 1½" thick for a little 'shore breakfast excursion' or 12 to 20 sirloins for a late-night dinner for the folk on board, lol!)

How long ago was it that you were in A-Bay Pops? I spent may a drunken weekend there in my youth :)

Late 70's and 80's; I'd done a few of them myself at the Pirate's Roost!

LOL, don't ask me about July 4 1976...

Do you use the saw on frozen meat or just to cut the bone? I never used one.

You can use it on both. Just like a wood saw, you need to let the weight of the saw and the teeth of the blade do the work, not to force it otherwise it will skew (turn and cut crooked). One of the biggest uses is to cut down the backbone of a hog, splitting it in two (or deer, elk, moose, etc.) or cutting thru the femur (leg) bone on a ham or round. Nothing else will work quite as well, and you don't want to try it with a good crosscut wood saw, it'll kill the teeth in no time on it!

I've got that same saw Pops. I've used mine mostly for deer but last year I used it to help a neighbor butcher a hog. He gave me a few good cuts of meat for helping him out. Last week he told me was going to buy another piglet pretty soon to raise and ask me if I wanted one and told me he'd raise it for me for a $1.25 a day till it was ready to butcher. That's to help with the grain and food he uses so I told him Hell Yes! Can't wait till gets that baby! LOL
