My Guardian of the Grill. He wont leave the grill unless we have meat somewhere else. Have to be very careful as he has already tried to knock the Weber over several times and somehow unlatched and opened my Masterbuilt smoker and completely cleaned out the drip pan. Luckily I had already taken the meat out 10 minutes before.

I used to live next to some people with a pit bull and a St Bernard. their dogs houses were next to my back patio where i smoked. they said be careful the dogs would bite. the dogs got scraps, bones, and all kinds of smokey goodness from me. stopped barking at me all together and were friendlier to me than their owners! its good to have grilling and smoking buddies!

Happy Smoking,

For sure it could be bad if grill gets knocked over. My guys are little to small for that. (mini wieners) Have had trouble with seagulls stealing off the grill before though.

And with the grill being located on a wooden deck, that's a really bad fire hazard especially if your dog is prone to trying to knock it over.
What's makes it really bad is that you might see and extinguish a fire on the deck, but not but see embers under the deck that could ignite hours later.

I don't think it's cute or funny, he ain't no guardian, he's a thief and an accident waiting to happen.
You need to break that grumpy looking dog of that s*** and quick!
For his and your own good.

My dog stole meat once... Once.

Hey, you sound a little bit like Danny Vermin there.

I had brought the grill back on the deck after cooking to cover and store it, but he could still smell the meat. I am a firefighter so I do understand the problems if I were to cook on a wooden deck, but thanks for the look out. It may get to someone that hasn't thought of that. I usually cook in the grass in the back yard if not in the driveway. I really do appreciate the concern for the safety of others on here. Great job on noticing a potential issue and keep it up.

Classic photo. Looks like he knows a good feed. What sort of dog is he?

Our dogs sit by the grill all day when cooking, they love it and know when it is plate up time.

He is a Neapolitan mastiff. He is just 2 years old and weighs about 180 pounds last we checked. Thats been a while though, and he does eat very well. LOL

The girls are always around if I am grilling or smoking. They never touch the grill just protect it and wait for me to drop something :emoji_wink:
