Maine
Hey all, my name is Tim "Big Daddy Tug" McDonald, and yes, I am from Maine, born and raised and I have been doing Barbecue for about four years now.
I guess it all started with the Brinkman Smoker that I bought at a yard sale for $10
Now, my love affair with food goes back a lot further than that. (They don’t call me BIG Daddy Tug for nothing!) I have always loved cooking, experimenting with different foods and recipe ideas, tweaking them until I had just the right flavor combinations. Whether it was on a camping trip; cooking in a Dutch oven or over an open wood fire or at home on my own gas and charcoal grills, I would cook anything, anywhere, but, my passion was grilling! I LOVED GRILLING! Anywhere there was a grill, you would find me there. Give me a good piece of meat and a hot fire and I was a Happy Camper.
And then I bought that smoker…
A whole new world of Barbecue opened up before me. I learned the joys of cooking with smoke. Low and Slow became my new mantra. I started reading everything I could find, joining websites, asking questions and, of course, experimenting. I started making my own premium Barbecue sauces and meat rubs, smoking and grilling meats and vegetables of every variety, my friends and family loved it. So, my brother and I built my first big roaster/smoker/grill, I bought a couple other smokers and I’ve been at it ever since!
I have a deep passion for good food. To me, food is much more than mere sustenance; it is a gift that you give to your family and friends. I love to cook for people, to share that passion with them. To me, it’s all about sharing GREAT food with GREAT people and having a GREAT time doing it!

Hi, Tim.  I'm from KCMO (that's Kansas City, MO) but my grandparents were from Bangor, and I have lots of great memories of Maine and the "Lobstahs".  Those crustaceans aren't very good with BBQ sauce, but I'm impressed that you're a BBQ enthusiast.  It is a lot of fun to make great BBQ and I appreciate your passion for the craft.  I don't know if you've ever had KC BBQ, but it is great, and in my opinion, some of the best, along with Memphis style Q. (I'll never forget my first Memphis pork sammie with coleslaw on top!)

I had relatives in Dover-Foxcroft and love the countryside--jealous most of the time for the climate and mellow mood (except Nov.-Mar.)!  Keep the faith, Brother.
