Alton Brown will be preparing traditional corned beef, I imagine from a beef brisket. I am sure brining and other techniques will be discussed. Check it out. I will be watching.

What about American Idol? By twin tweens would kill me:-(

the twins don't have 1 in there room steve? I thought that was the norm these days?

No, we just got Cable TV this year! No TV's in bedrooms, no cell phones:-)

Lots of instruments, guitars, drums, piano, and my sawsall. Oh yeah, breakfast and supper together plus add lunch together on weekends.

Happy kids, Happy Parents!!!!! I have to admit, I wanted to watch American Idol too, I like Alton, but I hate to see him boil a brisket!!!!!

Steve

He did boil the brisket but I was hoping some of the newer folks would catch his brine/corning technique. We all know how to cook it but not all know how to prepare it up to that point.

Spoken tongue in cheek as my 1st pastrami will enter the smoker tomorrow morning along with my 1st home cured ham, and a butt.

Oh and 4 slices of leftover pizza that will be my lunch...lol

Weather forecast is looking good. I love having a day off mid week!!!

I would have like to see that too. I am behind the 8 ball when it comes to curing and brining:-)

Any guy (or gal) who can build a smoker out of flower pots or a garbage can is alright by me.

Careful Steve. Someone might accuse you of being a great Dad. All that time spent at the diner table, encouraging them to do mind provoking activities instead of video games and television... You may just be teaching them work ethic, values, responsibility and social skills. Things their peers may not understand. Points for you. Good job!

yes steve I must admit you and yours a special breed-mine are grown and was all about electronics and less time around family fun-but now that they are grown they look back and regret it-so ya kudos to you.

Thanks Smoke_chef and Desertlites,

I agree with that....... Love=Time. How about Time=BBQ, wait if we cross out time, we get Love=BBQ!!!

I am a pretty luck guy, after diapers, twins make it easy because they are truly best friends.

Life is short
