Cheers to the weekend. It's cocktail hour...Wisco Old Fashioned for me.
That's for after dinner. Scored 2 bottles today, trying to decide which to crack open...Old Fit Bottled In Bond or Weller Full Proof.Bourbon over ice for me. I am not fancy by any means
Beer while im cooking, but i had my first eggnog today, 1½ oz of apple flavored crown royal whisky and light eggnog. Little cinnamon, it was very enjoyable.

I am with you, Svedka vodka (buy several cases at a time when in NH @$14.99/1.75) combined with Walmart's "DR. Thunder" aka diet Dr pepper from 6 pm till bedtime.....heading to a local brewery now...lolAs an alcoholic, I cant afford to drink liquor off the top shelf, but daily for me it's vodka with (Soda Stream) carbonated water and lime on the rocks in a highball glass before dinner (4:15 to about 6:30), then bourbon, over crushed ice in a rocks-single glass after dinner till I pass out on the couch...eventually...takes a while...
I play around with a mudslide once in a while, make an outstanding Bloody Mary and homemade traditional margarita...shaken and strained...never frozen or on the rocks. Cazadores is my tequila of choice for the money.
For beer, this is where I only do upper shelf because I dont drink much of it. I can drink a working man's beer, but low ABV beer is a waste of my time and stomach space unless I'm making a Michelada...which I also do very well and includes a wee dram of Everclear to "kick it up a notch". For those, the lighter the beer the better so it gets out of the way of the other flavors.
These are what's in my stash right now

That's bourbon county stout aged in bourbon barrels. I think this is the 2023 release. This stuff gets even better with time on the shelf. I have to give 1/3 of the pint to my wife (she only likes the dark rich beers) because at nearly 15% ABV, it hits me like a hammer and I'm a liquor drinker!
The other I just picked up yesterday. Cant find it everywhere like the Bourbon County, you aint gonna find that at the Walmart! Founders Breakfast Stout. At 8.3 ABV, it's a beer I can drink a 12oz-er and be fine...after all I'm switching to Vodka after that!
The Modelo Negra in the background I keep for my dad. I keep a few other "lightweight" beers on hand for those...um...folks. I might drink one here and there for the hell of it while cooking. The stouts are beers I like to sit down and enjoy every sip.
For wine...we dont drink it every day either, but mostly cheap stuff from Walmart. Sure, we have the $35+ bottles from doing the wine tours here in VA wine country every once in a while...thats a rich people's game though, so we only do that maybe once a year. We've been members of a few wineries long enough to know the $10 bottles at Walmart are usually just as good!
