This is a new build. I've built fires in it twice - to do a test cook and to season it. I really hate to part with it, but as I said in the build thread, I just don't have room to store another cooker...so something has to go (I'll also be advertising my big gravity feed smoker, and I'll sell the first cooker I get a reasonable offer on).
If you're interested, the build thread for this cooker can be seen here:
www.smokingmeatforums.com
It's a direct heat smoker-grill, similar to a Chud Box or a Hasty Bake Roughneck...only bigger and better (IMHO) than either of those cookers.
The specs on the cooker:
Total Height: 47 inches
Height of main body: 32 inches
Side table: 12" x 21"
Outside dimensions of main body is 24" x 24"
Cooking Grate: 22 1/2" x 23 1/2" (total cooking area 529 square inches)
Fire/Coal Basket: 19 1/2" x 23 1/2"
Heat Shield: 14" x 19"
4" x 4" square exhaust stack w/ swiveling cap/damper
2 pinwheel intake dampers
3" heavy duty, double-locking swivel casters on all 4 legs
There is a slide-out ash pan under the fire/coal basket.
The fire/coal basket slides out.
The removable heat shield also slides in and out on top of the fire/coal basket.
The heat shield can slide forward and back for indirect smoking.
22 1/2" x 23 12" slide-out cooking grate.
A unique feature of this cooker that makes it more versatile. The coal basket can be moved to the top rails, and dropped in directly under the cooking grate. This makes it a searing and grilling machine for steaks, burgers, etc.
Cool touch handles, pinwheel intake dampers, and heavy duty, 3 inch double-locking swivel casters on all 4 legs.
The price is $700. This is what I have to get to recover what I spent on materials during this build. As I've said before, I'm not interested in making a profit...just getting my expenses back. This is a hobby - not a side hustle. And I enjoy watching SMF members cooking on something I built!
The pit is located in NE Oklahoma near Tulsa. You can certainly just come get it yourself if you're close enough. Or, if you'd like, I'd be happy to deliver it to you anywhere in the lower 48. I'm retired, and have the time...and I like seeing new places. All I'd need is for you to cover my travel expenses (gas money if I can drive round trip in same day. Or gas money and overnight lodging if it requires more than one day's driving). For example, I delivered Ryan's (
Brokenhandle
) smoker to him in Northern Iowa for $300.

Red's Newest Build: A Direct-Heat Smoker/Grill
I've been planning this build since late last Fall. Just had to get the holidays behind me and shake off a case of the Lazy's! So my plan is a box for use as both a direct heat, live-fire smoker, and a high-heat grill. This type of cooker has become more popular lately. They're basically a...
