I grew up and live in SW Colorado. Chile is a way of life. It can get hot, but it’s that flavor that makes you hungry to eat more. That said, cayenne, ghost peppers, habenero, and the like do not interest me. All heat no flavor. Chile pequine, Chile de arbol, these can get very hot, but the flavors are intense.
I don’t care for super hot food, but a good bite is excepted and desired from flavorful Chile. The rest is just scovile for the sake.

I like spicy foods...but habanero peppers are already too hot for me.

I do still use a few drops of Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce (habanero) in my jerky marinades as opposed to ghost peppers (heat with no flavor - just to slow my sons down when they are tearing through my jerky)...the heat from the habanero stays firm when dehydrating while ghost peppers become much milder.

Dave's Insanity is just insane...yeah yeah I know...but it IS hot.

The First We Feast episode with Ramsay is very funny. The Alton Brown one is good too but wow, he's got a tolerance!

Enjoy

Will need to check out those vids but the "hot = manlier" thing cracks me up. Reminds me of the days going to local wing joint with 4-5 couples. Waitress asks first guy and he says hot, next says extra hot, 3rd guy says suicide, 4th guy says XXX suicide... :emoji_laughing:

I like hot stuff but there is a point where it's purely an endorphin buzz thing and that's when I am out.
On a slight tangent, I would like a good wing sauce recipe. Nearly all I try fail miserably and there is more going on than Franks, butter, and the like.

I could use a good recipe too!

I've seen them all. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the Terry Crew's episode is up there.
My friends bought many of the sauces and we've tried them on wings. Most are pretty tasty, but Da Bomb just sucks. All heat and nasty flavor.

The Chili eating contests are also fun to watch:

And if you're really bored, check out some of the Carolina Reaper challenge videos. Ouch!

I’ve watched it too. The Gordon Ramsey episode is hilarious.
Just watched it this evening. Funny! He sure does have a limited vocabulary though - f-bombs every other word!

bill ace 350 bill ace 350 . That one is a classic, he had a bag of safety gear ready. He woulda been on the toilet all next day, burning ring....:emoji_laughing:

Was thinking trying this with son in law, I give him grown & Homemade chilli of all sorts, he eats them raw and says not hot enough!
