How do i go about smoking with this? i've used a regular charcoal smoker before.  Do i put wood around the coils? and keep it plugged in for the whole smoke?

When i had one of these i would just rest soaked wood chunks on the circular element. Mine just had a rotary heat dial. So i set it to temp using a probe thermometer inside.

mine had a W shaped one, however what i ended up doing as a test was just to put a grate to rest above the element(not directly on it) the smoker has a lip inside that u can place a grate on for a portable grill. so i placed the wood chunks on that and everythng worked out as planned.

Hi Place the wood chunks/chips  between the elements NOT on them. I have a similar smoker Master Forge, and that is what they tell you to do. I use chunks they last longer..I would keep IT on all the time...
