Check it out guys: This was my first time smoking a whole chicken. Back in 2015 when I first joined this website was when I first began smoking meats. I haven't returned since. After a few years of college I'm back!

Hope you all enjoy the photos I snapped.

My smoking experience includes:
-Brisket
-Prime Rib
-Chicken

That’s one pretty bird! Color on that skin looks perfect. I bet it’s tasty. If that was your first bird I look forward to seeing plenty more of your cooks.

That's the first smoker we ever had (my dad's smoker) - way back in the day like 1970's or something. I got one about 25 yrs ago and that was my first smoker. They are amazingly good cookers but they take a lot of attention. I honestly don't remember my first chicken but yours looks great.

That chicken looks great! What did you use for the rub and what temp did you smoke it at?

I also haven't seen a smoker like that in years! They just don't build things like they used to...when I was a kid all my friends dads had one of those sitting in their back yard and they barely ever got used!

I just used a basic Montreal Chicken rub after smearing the bird in olive oil and melted butter. I smoked it consistently between about 220 to 245 degrees. I can't remember how much it weighed but, it took about 4 hours altogether to cook.

Welcome back. Chicken looks great! An ECB was my first smoker over 20 years ago. I remember getting up at 2AM to put the turkey on for Thanksgiving and the inordinate amount of attention that it required. I still maintain though, that some of my best results came out of that ECB!
