Hello from Manchester, England.

Ive just bought the Brinkmann Trailmaster Limited edition smoker from my local Costco.

Can anyone tell me if I can use the bar-be-quick instant light lumpwood charcoal for when I season my smoker for the first time. I'm worried I've bought 10 bags of the wrong type of charcoal!

Many thanks in advance :)

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  This can help when you have questions....and our answers will relate better for your climate.

The only thing bad about the instant light stuff....is it's packed with "lighter fluid"....and can make your meats and foods taste like it too.  IF you can take those back and get regular charcoal...I think you will be happier.

Yes, you can cure with it, however I would toss in a Fattie or some Chicken to get a good flavor started, I don't like the Petrol taste of instant light.

Have fun and as always . . .
