The title sounds like a Marlboro advertisement. From humble beginnings in a pasture to a prized possession. Thanks to the many contributors on this site. Starting with the extensive math (thanks Dave!), 2 rolls of wire and my second bottle of shielding gas, I've got an amazing cooking machine. 3/8" steel really holds the heat. A couple of splits every 45-50' and she stayed between 220 - 240. Awesome!

Now to finish the expanded metal firewood storage, counterbalance weights for the doors, maybe a burner or two...and so it goes.

Amazing site - huge influence on the final product. Thank you!

I like it! Have been hashing over building one similar to this. Can I ask you, what size LP tank is that you used? Your going to have a lot of good cooks on that one.
Congrats.

Thanks WI Smoker 77. It said 250 gal on the label (circa 1958). I trimmed off one side so I lost a bit of volume.

Absolutely. I consider it the 'smoker rat rod' approach. I'll do the trailer in Rustoleum and bed liner - but I'm keeping the propane tank original.

You did a nice job on that for sure! And glad you mentioned it... I need to order a roll of wire also. I just didn't build anything cool like you did!
