I am using my digital 40 for the first time. Got 4 large pork butts about 8lbs each. I have set the temp at 225. My question is where should the damper be positioned for best results, and is the temperature I am using correct.

By Digital 40, I assume you mean Masterbuilt MES 40, so I will say with 4 Butts, 225° should be your lowest setting. You'd be better off going to 260° smoker temp, and I would open that top vent all the way--100%".

Also Don't make your smoke too heavy!!
