Sorry I'm new here. I'm the owner of a 500 gallon tank smoker (reverse flow), a double door vertical offset reverse flow, double walled. I'm looking at making one now myself. Has anyone ever seen a "safe" used for the firebox? Attached is pics of Little Bessie and Big Bessie

I have never heard of a safe being used, what type of metal is it made of, fire box will generate a lot of heat, certain metals will give off bad gasses at certain temps. maybe someone with more knowledge will jump in.

Just plate steel, 5/8 inch steel

steel should be alright, not sure how big it is, could you line it with fire brick, just thinking it might warp. but I guess the only way to find out is give it a try
