heres a couple of wood stoves that might make a decent firebox.. what do you all think?

Possible, but certainly not optimal. Dissimilar metal issues aside, wood stoves are not optimized for smoker applications and may require several time consuming modifications. Try plugging one of the firebox perimeters into Dave’s calculator, you will probably find it doesn’t support nearly as much cc capacity as desired.

900 sq in cooking grate area is all i need anymore, if that.. so smaller is ok..

i dont like the wooden smoke box but this guy may have pulled it off..

heres a few more pictures. im not saying these cook great but 2 of them look like they could.. the big flat tank looks under sized on the firebox end..

Dave was kind enough.to run those numbers and here is the CC it can support
38,561 cu in. since.most things are measured in cu. ft. I converted it ..

÷ 1728
22.31 cu. ft. to put that number in perspective, a 55.gal drum is 7.35 cu. ft. X 3 is 22.05 ...

the one above will run 165 gal .. I'll prolly just run a 120 gal.. I'd say if you got one big enough to run a 300 gal. you'd be

if you get one big enough to run a 300 gal, you will be happy ... the measurements of mine will run a 165 gal but I'm thinking a 120 gal.
