So my place of employment sells Traeger and Weber and I get a pretty decent discount. I purchased a traeger pro 575 and loved it for the month I used it. I just returned it because I needed more room.

I'm debating between the weber ex6 or the traeger ironwood 885. I have over 15 weber kettles and a wsm and genesis... I'm a weber fan .. but the reviews and post about issues worry me.. also it's confirmed my place won't sell the new stealth..

Any tips?
I like the price of the ex6 and size

Thats a tough call. I would say if your a weber fan then stay with what you know. And if you don't like it return it.

We have a few members that love their EX6 I also heard the Ironwood is nice but actually know anybody that owns one

I bought an EX4 last July . I've been using the heck out of it , and I like it . Don't let the attention seeker videos deter you . There are some good / honest / helpful reviews out there .
The issues with the first generation have been addressed and are a non issue . I have the Gen 2 . If I smoke something like a brisket or pork butt , I use a drip pan . Just as I do on any of my other grills .
You mention you have a Genesis . I have a 310 . If I don't keep it clean , it will cause a grease fire . The complaints about grease fire in a EX4 / EX6 are user error .
In my opinion they have some really nice features . I was cleaning mine after every cook . I left it go over the last 2 weeks , and just cleaned it this past Monday . I had done a lot of grilling type cooks , with no drip pan . I ran at least 2 hoppers of pellets thru it . It had dust in the bottom , most was in the clean out tray . No grease to speak of in the bottom or clean out tray . No need to vacuum anything . Unless you want to . The scraper that comes with it , and an old paint brush are all I use to clean it . Here's and idea of the open design .

Just commenting because you asked about a SmokeFire . No knowledge of the Ironwood , but I'm sure it's a great unit also .
Let us know what you do .

New version of EX6 is going to drop any minute. I already pre-ordered it from BBQ Guys. It fixes an issue with the hopper and is supposed to have some more room for drip trays. Weber seems to like the idea of direct heat and smoke in the cooking chamber rather than totally changing the grease management. I had a gen 2 EX6 for about the 100 day period and loved it. Felt like it got lots of good smoke on the food. Really looking forward to some of these upgrades on the new version.

Can you elaborate on some of the changed and are they coming to the EX4? (sorry to OP to semi hi-jack)

Pellet hopper has been reconfigured. Auger placement also has changed. Some cosmetic changes, more blacked out and a questionable inside light. Those seem to get mixed reviews in how long they last and how well they work. For me, the hopper and it jamming was my main complaint. But during the waiting process, I decided to cancel my preorder and go with a Lonestargrillz pellet smoker. I will be missing the summer season because these suckers take so long to build, but I’m stoked. GL on your decision!

So I forgot to follow up with you all and thanks for your info.

So I ended up going with the Trager Ironwood 885 and loved it. I had a little cosmetic issues that were addressed by customer service. I was loving it and cooked 3 to 4 times a week on it and then all of I kept getting no ignite issue and pellets overflowing... issue. Customer service pretty much was useless they did sent me new parts but I was still having issues.. At that point I just ended up returning it and got the Weber EX6.. I freaking loved it. How hot it got and i used the hell out of it. this thing is built like a rock.. But... lol i know another issue. I kept having the pellets over flow the fire pot and then pellets were falling behing the auger slide and built up so much and kept catching on fire. ( weber was awesome with helping) but this was causing hopper fires for me. They sent parts and we went via webcam and they couldnt fix it. So I asked for a exchange but what was weird they pretty much said no and just return it.. (im assuing they know this is an issue) So today the weber gets picked up and now I am pellet grill hunt again..

Im thinking Recteq 700

That's a shame , because they are great grills and smokers . I had mine do that twice . They sent me some parts , but I never changed them out .
Mine only did it if starting in smoke boost , which they tell you not to do . I now start at 200 and let it settle in . Raise temp slowly , or set it to boost . No more issues .
Good luck on getting something new .
I have to say , I walk past all my other grills to fire up the SmokeFire . I even had my 26 " kettle ready to roll the other day . Opted out and fired up the pellet .
