Use lump charcoal for most of my smoking.Have a container that I dump it in for easy access.Usually refill before all is gone. My question is , what do y'all do with the dust ? After cycling through a couple of bags I end up with about 5" of dust and particals that will just fall through my basket ! Seems a waste to toss it , I'm sure it will burn , but how , without itfalling through ? Just curios, not the end of the world

Gorilla...I don't store mine that way, but can tell you that the dust does a great job if you put it at the bottom of your chimney, above the newspaper (assuming you use a chimney-sorry, if you don't). I haven't timed it but I believe that when I'm on the last of the bag and pour it in (with all the remaining dust), that the chimney gets to redhot much quicker. You might try adding a cup or two before you put in the charcoal. Good question.

I pour the dust on my first batch of coals-before adding my meat-burnt ashes go in the compost pile.

Thought of this myself. Could try sprinkling around the coals in the pan, or save enough and send to kingsford. Maybe they'll send you a bag of briquettes in return.
