double drum firebox idea

So i have this double drum smoker i built last year, ive noticed im really going through the fuel, i was contemplating wrapping it in a welding blanket and putting firebrick inside. ive currently inherited a wood stove. Here is my question. would a wood stove make a nice firebox its a nice sized wood stove. its a cast iron stove with firebrick in the chamber already.
