door tabs

Im building a firebox for my smoker just got the fb door cut out but I cant figure out how tp put door tabs on the outside to make it look better without them hitting and not being able to open the door.

If you are calling door tabs small flat bar stock around the door. Why not put it on the inside of the FB? Or you could use a hinge like a hood hinge.
