Seriously...I really didn't know Walmart had a clearance rack. Probably because I am a power shopper...head down, bent on getting what I went there for and getting the hell out. I'm not a "browser"...that's the wife. But she's doing the weekly grocery Walmart shopping today (thankfully she does this and not me most of the time) and I'll ask her if she knows where this fabled "clearance rack" is. I am all about getting a deal. With the smart phones these days she can quickly transmit to me what's there, and she has a good idea of what I might be interested in.

All the grocery stores have them, I know, often back somewhere near the bathrooms. I seldom find anything I want or discounted enough to make me want something I didn't go there for. I have to fight the urge to buy something just because it's discounted...I've come home with stuff that made absolutely no sense years ago! Like going to the Asian market...I've had to get a handle on myself!

Don't flame me too bad but I always check the clearance section in the meat dept at the Krogers. Usually find something worth buying.
No shame in that whatsoever. Even when I'm power shopping I walk down the meat aisle looking for the stickers, but rarely is anything discounted as much as a sale I went there specifically for that was advertised. Get lucky once in a while though. I especially like to find "easy button" deals on already marinated or prepared stuff I just have to pop in the oven or on the grill for an easy meal.

I rarely find good stuff in the clearance bin, first time I had Covid I was recovering after 2 weeks shutin and found a 36oz or so caveman ribeye, $13, most what I find is all brown beef and pork, I just can't bring myself to take brown meat from the store. But I always look in the hopes of another gem :emoji_wink:

Our local HD used to have a clearance section.
"Used to" being the key words.

I went up there last week to buy a Ryobi battery-powered Dremel-type tool.
All the battery powered stuff was locked up, and they want you to scan some QR code
so "an associate can assist you".

Nope, not doing that.
I simply ordered it online and made them deliver it to my house for free.

Funny you say that.I just got back from grocery shopping and they had 4 semi boneless leg of lamb for $4.99/lb "manager's special" but all of them had that brownish/greyish tinge in spots and I just can't bring myself to buy meat that looks like that either.

Checked with the wife, she said our WM doesn't really have a clearance "area", but items may be marked "clearance" in the various aisles. I'm not a browser like that so I likely miss out on some deals. Probably for the best, I'm out of room! I'm in and out of stores as fast as possible.

Yep, that's what I do. For us it's Lowe's nearby. I have that "silver key status" or whatever (didn't pay anything for it). For shippable items I get a lot of the stuff shipped for free. I was reminded of this the other day. My push broom fell off of the tractor while I was scooping gravel to work on the neighborhood road and I didn't see it until..."crunch"...I had ran over it.

Looking at a new hardwood handle for it online, I saw it ships free...a $10 handle! Why the heck would I drive even 5 miles up the road when I can get that?! If it needs returned, it can be dropped off any other ole time we're driving past the store.
Reminds me of my ex-father in law. Was a coupon clipper and would buy things he normally wouldn't buy, or use, just because he could save .50 cents. Would have saved more by not buying it at all.
I was a power coupon shopper for years until the web site I used stopped working. It would match the store sales with the coupons in the paper (back when we got an actual paper). The cashiers would be amazed when they would hand me my receipt and have to tell me I saved as much as I spent! Got a lot of stuff better than half price. I didn't buy a lot of stuff we didn't want otherwise but sometimes got to try some things I would have never bought because of their cost at regular price. People rolled their eyes but I saved minimum hundreds of dollars a year in groceries, plus stocked up on prepper stock and emergency supplies. Don't do the coupons anymore...it WAS a lot of work and no other website works like that one did..

Find a spot in the store where you can stand back and see over the tops of the aisles . Look for a big yellow sign that says " Clearance " . Sounds like a wisecrack , but it's not . If they have the dedicated aisle that's where it's at . I don't shop Walmart , but if I hear they have things on closeout , I'll walk in and look for the sign .
