I've been looking around for awhile.. not seen one yet. Anyone build a divorced firebox for their smoker that mates up to the chamber with a flange such that you could add a longer piece inbetween to better facilitate cold smoking? being divorced instead of welded on could be helpful for replacing when rusted out/burnt up. thinking insulated with firebrick and on casters - also big enough for standard logs 18-24" long.. thoughts?

Yep easy to do, just don't use any galvanized pipe to connect it, a 30-55g barrel would work well just make sure it has no lining in it.

I was thinking 4" square mild steel tubing - 1/4" thick should last awhile
