I had finished my 2nd batch of CB, about 13 lbs worth Sunday. My slicer showed up yesterday and I had promised Piney I would do a quick review for him and others.

My overall impression is this is a medium duty home slicer that is built fairly well. It is die cast aluminum construction with stainless steel food platform and guide rod. The blade is a serrated universal cut Stainless that is 8.5 inches in diameter. The motor is 150 watts. I say medium duty because the owners manual says not to cut non stop for more than 10 minutes. The 13 lbs of CB took about 5 minutes to cut stopping often for pictures. Cutting required little pressure. The slicers were even and at the selected thickness from first to last cut. The blade is removed easily for cleaning and the food table tilts away. Pics below.

If anone asks a specific question I will do my best to respond or tell you I just don't know as I have only had this slicer a few days.

For a home slicer I would give it a thumbs up today. Ask me again after I have lived with it a while and I may change my mind. As with all things including wives LOL it takes time to really know how it will hold up.

Sorry Sandy it was a joke!

Looks good Rick

and thanks for the info on the slicer

Thanks for the review Rick. What Brand is it? And what can one expect to pay for one of these?
Also did ya try to see how thin it will slice? what the thickest?
Thanks again and nice CB!

lol - I've just bought the exact same slicer.
In fact if you look around on the net the identical unit crops up under about 15 different names with minor cosmetic differences. Mine says buffalo on the box.
My bacon is due out of the fridge saturday so it'll get it's first use then.
Plus mine came with a smooth cutting disc, which I think for cured and unsmoked meat I prefer. Plus it's not going to be used for anything but meat anyway, and I can resharpen a smooth disc quite easily.

So what did you pay for yours ?
Mine was £45 delivered from a catering clearence company on ebay. About $60
I've seen exactly the same unit on amazon for anywhere from £60 - £120

Good looking batch of smoked ham you've got there - over here bacon is uncooked, cooked bacon is ham.

I too have the same slicer, I've had it for over a year now. My impression is it slices some things fairly well like small smooth surface chunks of meat - ham, corned beef work ok. Slap a large leftover rib roast on there and you'll be wrestling with it. Sometimes the meat will tend to stay at the end when I'm pulling the tray back after a slice and I have to pick it up and put it back in the tray. I also found that I have to put a considerable amount of pressure on the meat to get a clean cut.
All in all it's been a big time saver and I still use it often. Would I buy another one just like it? Not likely.

but was it cheap ?
I only got mine because I could foresee a struggle slicing uncooked bacon consistently and evenly. Plus I'm contemplating selling the smoked ham and consistent thin slices is fairly important.
So like most gadgets I'm not sure will get a lot of use I've gne for something that's not the lowest end of the market but cheap enough not to worry about if it's not used extensively.
(bugger just noticed my flag is gone - have to furtle with the cp again lol)

It will literally shave CB. Max thickness is 7/8 inch. Brand is Deni. QVC offers this unit intro priced at 63.00 and less than 10.00 shipping. I heard Target has this unit for 74.00.

I have not had mine long enoeph to get a complete impression. As for large roasts the owners manual recommends cutting into more managable hunks first and then slicing. Maybe thats the ticket. We will see.
