I was a huge fan as a kid, had the SST cycle and all that stuff. My Mom had lunch with him years ago when she was working for Assemblyman Dick Floyd. She wasn't very flattered by him, I guess he was a bit crass.

Wow, no disrespect or offense intended, but I am surprised he made it that far...

He will be missed...

Bummer......He was a hero to many of us. On the bright side, I saw him speaking on a show giving his testimony on how he had recently became a Christian.
Maybe he will finally make that Grand Canyon jump!!!

CRAP CRAP CRAP..............

he was a heck of a stunt bike man.......TILL the snake river fiasco

but i will miss him..........

he will be missed here as well.... many many jumps on my bike because of him... many many stitches and scraped arms and legs because of him...oh the good times..lol

You have a point, he broke over 40 bones and by the end of his jumping career I'm surprised he could even walk, he was the ultimate showman

He lived down in this area and his crankyness made for some incredibly funny phone calls on the radio.
It is too bed though. He was a unique person who gave us some great entertainment.

His son Robbie bought me a shot and a beer once after I cooked for him.
Can anyone guess the shot?

Damn, all my childhood heroes are dying. Oh, and about the toys and dolls, he made over 300 million for mattel in toys in his likeness.

I saw him in actrion at the JFK stadium in Philly one time. Took the kids to see him. It was a cold night. We sat way up top and watched him jump over a line of cars, I think there was about 15 of them. Same night the Great Wallendas walked across the stadium on a tight rope. Also featured that night were big wheeled trucks roaring around tearing up the field.
