I partially fill it with boiling water & keep it closed, and then empty that out & wipe it dry before putting in the wrapped butts.

I can't say that I have ever pre warmed my cooler, well short of leaving it out in the sun by my pit......which may have unintentionally pre heated it.

i just place my wrapped Butt or Brisket in the cooler and lay towels around it and seems to work just fine.......

I like the boiling water Idea, I just don't always have enough water to spare for such a venture

Boiling water sounds good. I have heard the term " Place my Butts in a warm cooler" and was just wondering...Thanks !

I never pre-heat my cooler, In the summer I might let it set in the sun (open). But in the winter I don't have that option. I always wrap the foiled butt in a couple of towels, then I have a goose down coat that nobody uses any more and wrap it in that, stuff it in the cooler and it will keep the meat hot for a long time. I have gone 6 hours and the meat was still around 180* (pulled the meat off at 200*)

Never thought of heating it. Since it all made of insulation I don't see where it would help that much. I am curious now, but don't think I would try it. Never had a problem just wrapping with a couple towels and leaving it rest.
