Hey guys I was looking to practice a little with my chicken for an upcoming competition. I was reading something a while back saying judges are getting tired of getting only thighs in the boxes and it would be great to see something different. I was thinking about doing a little of everything. A couple full wings. Maybe some small lollipops. 2 thighs. and some sliced breast meeat. This would give the judges some options. What do you all think. Any other suggestions.

BTW: This is a backyard event so there is no decorations in the box so there is a little more room

GP, morning....   I think judges want moist meat, crisp skin and a sauce that fits their "taste" profile.....   If you can hit all three, you get a walk to the stage....  Whether it's dark or light meat, that is just one more "personal preference" a judge wants.... now you have 4 targets to hit...  Wings, legs, breasts, backs, necks, gizzards, hearts........  A great deep fried gizzard would win my vote....   but then, I grew up on offal... Now you know what gets my vote...
