Will have to make some soon.

Lotsa debate over what is and what is not SOS. Before I joined the Navy, we called Chipped beef on toast SOS, and Navy's version was I think called Stewed beef.. it had tomato in it. Either way, above looks like SOS also so let's eat!

Was thinking about making some SOS, but thought I'd try the Army version. Anyone have a legit recipe?

Huge fan! I've posted my rich keto version of it on here a couple times. One of my all time favs

Well, I'm trying to find it, but don't want to bad mouth the search function here...

Here it is...

Hmmm never heard of it served for breakfast. Thought it was dinner fare (and was not a fan).

We ate a lot of SOS growing up and it was delicious. We also made a different version that was definitely a supper version. Brown the beef with diced onion and garlic, drain the grease/water if need be. Then add a can of Campbell’s cream of mushroom soup, stir in and add enough milk for desired consistency. We generally had this over mashed taters or rice. Simple and delicious.

Same here but we called that shepherd's pie. Peas and carrots were sometimes added. Was called beef stroganoff if over noodles with canned mushrooms added. Dallop of sour cream usually. To me all were some kinda DIY hamburger helper.
