Recently purchased a Traeger grill from Home Depot. Went to clean after 6/7 smokes. Like a true novice a sprayed my grill cleaner inside the barrel. Not inside of trader smells like the cleaner. Does anyone know to get rid of the cleaning smell? Is it safe to cook on? I think I should using this forum more.

Ouch! I would run the grill at very high temp for 10-15 mins to burn it out, when cool wipe and then spray with canola oil.

I use a vacuum to clean after every Hopper of pellets or a big cook, scrape of excess grease with a plastic spatula, then use a Cloth or Paper towel to get rid of bits and pieces.

Use alfoil to line dirty/Greasy areas, so you can simply pull out and replace when dirty/greasy. This saves alot of cleaning time.

Used vacuum to clean out ashes but like an amateur I sprayed cleaner on inside hood and around the shelves that hold the drip pan. Thank you

Get a set of plastic joint compound spreaders for Lowes or HD. They are only a few bucks. The different sizes will allow to reach about everywhere inside your grill. About every 3 months I use the spreaders to scrape the inside on my 1300 and remove as much of the built on grease and crud as I can. I will then wipe everything down with a damp towel and it's good to go for another 3 months.

Thanks for all your advice, we are good to go. Set Traeger on high for about 45 minutes and it seems order is gone. Just in time for the weekend! Have a great weekend of smoking everyone!
