All,

Been going through a few changes recently, ie I just changed companies by choice to allow for some desired quality of life changes....

My old company wanted me to pretty much give up on any engineering and just be a “lone wolf sales guy”.... I spent many years telling them that I joined them to design in my own community because that’s what I wanted to do.....I didn’t want to be a business man.....but they simply said we don’t care.....So fortunately (feel very blessed), I had the opportunity to consider another life change so I decided to take that new “Road”......

This new “Road” means selling the house and moving to the other side of the state to live in a much smaller “town” (ie leaving 1.2 mill to live in 100k). This will also allow us to be closer to our daughter and for our son to life at home while going to college (he graduated early and so will be only 17 most of his first year).

The kicker is we are going to be building a new home once we get ours sold, so we will be in a short term rental for a bit, so furthermore, most of our grills/smokers (including the X-Fire) will be in storage.....agggg! So I will be a little scarce for a while.....I just hope I don’t forget how to smoke or grill.!!!!! But don’t worry, the new place will have a home for the X-Fire and copper pot.....with any luck they will be hot again by thanksgiving!!!

Wow, congratulations and good luck in your new endeavor! New job, building a new house, very exciting stuff indeed. Your great cooks will be missed, but we'll still be here when you get settled in. RAY

Thanks RAY, We feel very fortunate considering everything that is going on right now.....I may end up with a small kettle and vortex because I’m not sure I can deal for that long.......

Civil, best of luck sir with everything, and as Ray said "We will be here when you get back".

Just make sure to check back and give us an update please!

And a small kettle and vortex would allow you to keep your smoking habit at bay. :emoji_wink:

Congratulations, and hope all goes well for you! It's a good thing you took all those cool fire pics in the x fire...give you something to remember while it's resting. And better get ya something to cook on so ya don't go nuts, we all know you can't find a place that serves as good of que as you put out.

Best wishes
Ryan

Thanks Ryan! You are not kidding on the fire pic thing!!! Our builder is a friend I’ve been teaching how to smoke and grill so I hope he will share!!! Yes you are right I will have to find a way to cook or it will be ugly for sure!!!

Exciting new adventure. Building your own home means you can incorporate an outdoor kitchen to your liking. Best of luck with everything !

New job, new house - wow, that's a lot of adventures to take on all at once. Good on ya!

Congrats on the new job and perspective improvements in lifestyle. It may be a bit of a long commute but I just can't see you going without smoking/cooking/grilling anything for that long. Why don't you come stay with us? I have a couple toys on the patio you can play with and it'll scratch that itch you're gonna have...as long as you can handle that daily drive :emoji_laughing:

Rollling out the red carpet,
Robert

Congrats on your next venture!
Thanks Steve!
Congrats on the new opportunity! I always enjoy seeing what wonderful things you cook
Thanks Adam, much appreciated! I’m glad I have an opportunity to share the many cooks!

Thanks WInter! I sure hope the outdoor kitchen can happen! We are also hoping to get a little shop built so I can make some knifes and a smoker or two as well!

Thanks Robert but be careful what you offer.....come this winter you may have a bunch of folks show up looking for some good BBQ!!! I’m hoping it turns out to be a good perspective in the end but you can always write your own story!

Changes always put new life in one's step. Sounds like you made the healthy choice for your state of mind. BRAVO! We'll always be ready to hear how things are progressing.

Best of luck with selling the old and building the new house!

Heck, just moving is hard enough on a marriage, plus building a new house.........good luck!!!:emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing::emoji_laughing:

Congrats sounds like hopefully some great changes headed your way. Enjoy the adventure and make sure the rental will allow you to do some smoking and grilling.
We moved 6 or 7 years ago to a smaller community and a place in the woods and it's been great except for the moving part of it. Never realize how much "stuff" you accumulate until you go to move lol.
Be sure to take pics along the way most of us enjoy a good adventure and has been said we'll still be here

Good luck bud . It all works out , and sounds like a good choice .
As far as moving ,,,a 20 yard roll off is your friend .

That's Awesome, Civil !!!
Sounds much better for you & your entire gang!!
Hope everything goes Great for you & Yours!!

Thanks Ray! Change alway gives you a new perspective for sure. So far the selling part is moving along well and we expect things to quickly from this point. We also believe we found the lot we want so we have our fingers crossed that will pan out.

My wife likes your thinking! Already took a 2 ton load to the LF! Last move we had 17k for a full trailer load. That was before the copper pot and X-Fire....
