At work we are having a chili cookoff this coming Friday. I entered it; am using SoFlaQuer's (Fla. Jeff) "chili verde" recipe. I hope I win, pretty confident I will. The winner gets a box of steaks from Omaha Steak Company, a $250 value. I am taking Friday off, so I can do that, and then do the stuff I normally do on payday. They (work) are providing the bowls, spoons, and crackers. The teams have to serve the chili. The chili will be $3 a bowl and a drink, with each additional bowl $1. The team with the most donations wins. The proceeds benefit the united way. There are a maximun of 8 teams, max of 3 per team. i am on my own, as is several other teams.

seems like alot of people are enjoying their "work" while cooking for charity the united way is a great charity hope you raise lots of money and have a blast doing it

Chris,

Go easy on 'em ........ if you take all the money this year, they may not let you enter next year! Hope you do well. Keep us posted on the final $$ count.

Good luck to ya Chris... they can't touch a smoke-a-holic like you. Your chili will blow em away.

Show em what it's all about buster

Chris:

I have no doubt you will do well. It's even better because it's for a good cause. Good thing for them it's not a brisket cook off, then they wouldn't stand a chance.

Have fun.

only one other entrant knows i q' alot. he was a grand champion, or so i have heard, at a chili cookoff once. i am not scared to lose to him. i have heard his chili is not "all that". he was disqualified at the last chili cookoff they had (before i started there), as he turned in "marked" chili. all my guys on my crew say i will win. they had some of my chili back earlier in the year. i went today and got all the stuff to make it, i spent $40. i got 2 beef shoulder roasts, 3.5 and 3.75 pounds each. i am going to smoke them tomorrow, shred them, and freeze them. thursday night i will make the chili, taking it to work friday morning. i made this chili back in jan, minus some of the stuff i didn't have on hand. it was pretty good.

i am waiting for a brisket cookoff, hehe.

i don't have any venison, or a brisket. i know one guy is going to make deer chili.

thanks for the good lucks, y'all.
