Here's a pan of chicken cacciatore I made last Monday afternoon. I made the short video with my iPhone and was surprised to hear the bubbling of the pot.

    OK. That was bust!

I saw the thread from last January on embedding videos but it only referenced a YouTube example. I try not to YouTube because I despise the google business model. I chose Vimeo but I haven't come across their equivalent to "share" yet.

    Soooooooo . . . I'm still workin' on it.

Here's what I tried to do.

First, I went to Vimeo and found my video and clicked on the "Share" button and found the embed markup string and copied it.

Then I returned to SMF and tried to reply to my post above. Then the fun started.

I chose this option ">" from the SMF post options:

    Which returned this screen:

But after pasting the embed string from Vimeo I get this error:

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I never get the SMF Embed Video window that Dave shows in his how-to.

    Have fun and . . .

  6. Try embedding it this way

Click the "filmstrip" icon next to the insert image icon (mountain looking thing). A pop up box should appear that looks

like the following image, then copy and paste the either the Video URL, example (this will be the http://) or the Embed code, example (this will start with something looking like this <iframe src=) into the box and click SUBMIT. I just did it and worked fine for me. So hopefully this will solve your problem!!!!

For some reason, I never see this popup:

I'm using Firefox 24.0 on Windows 7 HPE

Could this have something to do with my Premier status?

I know that it gives me a different screen view. I wonder if the editing icons are somehow affected as well.

I think you should send a private message to the administrator team and ask them or start a thread in the "Forum Related Issues" forum and ask your question there. I think only YouTube is supported but I'm not 100% sure. The administrator team will be able to give a better answer.

Here is the Embed code I copied from Vimeo:
    "
Chicken a la Cacciatore from Rabbit Hutch on Vimeo.
    "

The problem is that I seem to be unable to get the appropriate popup from the SMF server. When I click on the filmstrip icon I get "[VIDEO][/VIDEO]" and pasting the embed markup in between those tags doesn't work. Neither does pasting the http:// presented by Vimeo.

If I choose the embed tag icon (>), it says that I can embed only other SMF items.

Are you using the "Rich Text Editor" or "BB Code Editor"?

Rabbit....I know you can join you tube free....try and download it there....then click the "share" button underneath the video....and it will pop up a "formatted code"...copy it...and then bring it here.

Doesn't have anything to do with the Premier status.  Just SMF only will take those codes and not written words.

OK.  I switched to Rich Text Editor and clicked on the "Insert Video" icon (looks like a filmstrip) and got the correct popup:

Note that it says that YouTube and Vimeo are supported, but when I copy and paste the embed markup code from Vimeo and click "Submit", this is what I get.

Now that I got the posting figured out (Thanks, again, Dave!), I guess I should post my recipe.  It is one that I took off the web and modified to suit my tastes.

6-8 chicken thighs (boneless/skinless is OK but you lose flavor without the bones, IMO)

    1 whole green bell pepper

1/2 each red, yellow and orange pepper for color and taste

    1/2 - 3/4 cup diced sweet onion

finely mined garlic - as much as you like (usually use 3 or 4 cloves)

1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes (sometimes I add an extra smaller can if I don't think there is enough liquid

    1-2 fresh bay leaves

oregano, chives, parsley from your herb pots or dried if you don't have fresh - I no longer measure but just put it in there 'til it looks right

    celery flakes - dried

salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste (don't skimp on the fresh pepper grind; I find that to be a critical event in preparing this dish)

remove skin and wash chicken thighs, pat dry before pan searing

chop and prep all ingredients because this will go very fast after the chicken is browned

place 1-2 tbsp good olive oil in skillet and brown thighs

remove thighs and reserve as much of the liquid as you like - you need to remove enough to be sure your pot doesn't get too much chicken fat

with enough liquid for them, wilt the onions adding salt at this stage - seems to improve everything if the onions are correctly salted

add minced garlic when onions are ready

    return thighs to pan

add canned tomatoes, peppers, herbs and stir - add more tomatoes if you aren't getting good coverage over the thighs

bring all this to a boil then reduce to low for a simmer

cover and cook for at least 45 minutes -  I usually go for 1-1/2 to 2 hours on a very slow simmer.

If you try this, let me know how it turns out.

OK!  Now I can see it.  Can you?

It seems that the Rich Text Editor was the solution.

    Thanks, s2kdk.
