cast iron grates

the best way is to sandblast iron but since most of us dont have access to a sand blaster i would have to say brillo pads and elbow grease follwed by a good scrubbing and seasoning w/ some cooking oil.
 
I used to use a small wire brush cup on my cordless drill on the cast iron grill on the colemal grill I use to have.  The one I have now I just use hot water and a brillo pad when I clean it.

The only problem is that I'd rather use my elbow for something productive like drinking ice cold beer.

I dont drink beer but a nice jack on the rocks would be fine.  I do have access to a sand blaster lol.
