standing over the pit- kentucky
well we've had 7" of rain since yesterday morning'- just a soaking rain but as y'all may know from when bud & tonto were in lebanon, tenn.(just an hour south of me)that our area was hotter'n hades & a 13ft deficit of rain..the lakes had the public beaches closed etc.etc.
on another bright note- i finally found my catering trailer-cheap.
it is made for catering w/ sides & back openings & ramp out back to unload the pits.i just have to install my hot & cold boxes & sink. but the best thing is that the guy thats selling it to me has some land right near a marina & country club on dale hollow lake state park,w/ city water & electric, & weekly vending permits- the closest food is 20 miles away. great oppurtunity to recoup my investment & do dry runs on location for festival season..
i hope this is not taken as bragging- i was simply sharing w/ the only people that could understand my stoke and the bbq for profit venture.

Allllright Gypsy!! That's great!!

Congrats on your find, here is wishing you much success.

It's pleasure to see you have a great day.
Catering is work, for sure. If it is something you enjoy then it is not usually work. Sounds like you have an opportunity.
Good luck with your venture.

Congrats Gypsy I know you've been working for this for a long time.

I promise to take lots of pictures of the Gypsmister in his soon to be Vend-o-matic trailer!

Sounds like you are into a lot of hard work, but know that you will really enjoy yourself.

Pretty exciting for you to have this fall into place.

Congratulations,

Skip

Congrats and good luck, from what I have been reading u shouldn't have a problem taking in some revenue, and you'll enjoy every minute of it

oh don't get me wrong... this ain't my 1st rodeo. i've catered for over 2500 @ a time & fed 20-50 3x a day on an oil boat... no matter how much i love it- it is still work, & the galley staff is me,myself,& I . i've read threads in this forum & others about people wanting to do this kind of business... well you prep time & serving hours are 25% of the total labor & time spent. oh & then if you want a restaurant... kiss sleep, fun,& family goodbye just to have on avg. a 90% failure rate- and thats w/ regulars & great food. but considering i ain't catching shark or blue marlin up here & i hate officework i just ain't skeered to kill myself for money- as long as i'm the one losing or gaining- not a corporate entity... oops i'm blathering again... sorry

I have never done the food service business before. Other than the restaurant work in my teens. However, I am well aware of the mega hours & 90% failure rate that is why I am looking for that "perfect" deal if it ever comes

A poor economy makes things even worse.

the closest thing i've ever seen to "the perfect deal" is a mikki d's or subway franchise- because if they grant you 1 it's a no fail,so much traffic option to even get the franchise... and then there's you accountant....like my papa told me as a kid(a lifetime commercial fisherman) the only thing guaranteed in life is... a life full of hard work & death. god, i miss the oldtimers... lol
