Burn Time

I now there are variables, but how long should a load of charcoal last. I haven't tried the minion method yet. Should one load last several hours or will I need to reload for more time? The basket is 8"wideX8"longX7"deep. Iam using Kingsford and oak.

Well, you got the variable part right.

We need to know:

What type of smoker are you using?

What temps your planning on running your smoker at? (the higher the temps the quicker you'll burn through your charcoal)


I have a charcoal basket about the same size you use. When I load it up and get it going, using the Minon Method I can get about 3 1/2-4 hrs out of it. Your milage may vary (YMMV).
