Looking at final assembly this weekend and hoping for a burn-in in about a week after.

I am curious as to what you all have done for yours. I have some clean bare steel in it that I am going to be seasoning during this burn in as well. I was planning to treat this much like a good cast iron pan and lightly coat it with cooking oil and then cook it out.

But I would like to hear what some of you have done for burn-in and seasoning of your builds.

Thanks

I ran mine up to 450 degrees naked, ran it for and hour to burn everything off the raw steel.

Then I sprayed cooking oil spray on everything inside, the racks, walls inside of the door, the seal, etc. and ran it up to 450 again for another half hour.

I never clean my smoker or racks. I just spray cooking oil on everything inside before each smoke & run it.
