Building a New Smoker

So I have acquired an old banquet hotbox and was thinking about turning it into an electric smoker with a smoke generator on the outside. it's very well insulated. The dimensions are 45" wide, 25" deep, & 56.5" tall. The only problem is that I have never converted anything into a smoker! I'm looking for some help with this besides giving it a really good cleaning.

This will be a fun project. I did a project last by converting a filing cabinet into a vertical smoker. Question for you because I can't see it in the photos, is the Hot box insulated?
