Brats aren't so boring if you smoke them

Fire up the gas grill and the brats are done PDQ and still pretty tasty. But when I have the time, smoked brats are way tastier.

To smoke brats I get the old Brinkmann grill fired up to about 325F. Fire on the left, brats on the right. Apple for smoke. I do place the brats over the coals from time to time so the skin isn't so tough. From loading the grill with charcoal to finished brat is about 75-90 minutes this way, but definitely worth the wait.

We rounded out this meal with big salads, corn on the cob and watermelon.

FWIW - Member's Mark (Sam's Club) brats are pretty good and not very greasy.

Can't tell cuz of the glare, but the grill is at 325F.

Those look great. I love them smoked too. I usually do pulled pork for my father in laws family reunion. He’s since passed but I still do. One year he wasn’t feeling well and he usually does the brats. I threw them in with the pork to save time instead of lighting the grill. People freaked out over them and I’ve had brat duty too ever since lol. Any catfish in the river?

Thanks for the like.

I wish it was a river. Just a pond. Still clearing up after a big T-storm earlier this week. No catfish in this pond either. Just bass and bluegill and 3 grass carp.

Bluegill are delicious. I had a pond I put in at my last house. I miss having a pond out front to fish in.

Looks really really good. Smoking them is a go to, I love them and when we have guests they can't get enough of them.
