Anyone using Inkbird or any other wireless thermometers?

Unfortunately my 4-probe Inkbird thermometer base no longer charges up. It's lasted many years and has been great, but I was gifted a single Meater probe and that thing is amazing.... just painful for the wallet. Looking to hear what your personal experience has been with Inkbird Wireless thermometer or any other recommendation you may have.

I have not been a fan of either of my inkbird wireless thermometers wireless and Bluetooth . The case has to be almost in the grill grate with them or else they disconnect and they and been such a pain that I don’t even use them. Would not recommend. Thinking about it now. I don’t use my inkbird sous vide and not a fan of my inkbird vacuum sealer either. I do however lovey instant read thermometer from them

I just have the InkBird Humidity and Temp controllers.
Use them for curing and drying sausage.
Been working fine, but I only use the a couple times a year.

I have a Thermo pro temp spike . TP-960 . 500 ft range . I love it . It's under $100 now . There's newer models though . 970 is around $100 .
I've never had any issues .
Also have an air probe 2 . It works ,,, most of the time .

I run a 4 probe inkbird bluetooth (non-wifi) when I bother to use it. I don't use it on cooks very often, anymore, though it works fine.

I also have their rechargeable instant read, which I use all the time. I really like it.

I purchased my very first wireless in October of 2024 and it was a ThermoPro TempSpike XR. I used it once and when I tried it a second time the base unit was dead. Nothing. No numbers and wouldn't take a charge. Contacted Amazon and they sent me a replacement. The second unit lased about three months before it died. Same thing. Base unit went dead. I called ThermoPro and a tech did some trouble shooting over the phone and determined the base unit was shot. I did have to buy the optional signal amplifier for it. ThermoPro sent me another free replacement. My third. The third one is still new in the box. I never opened it.

During all of this I ordered a Thermoworks RFX. It works and I like it. RFX's aren't cheap. But considering I have a $90.00 ThermoPro thermometer and the additional $19.99 ThermoPro Signal amplifier that I don't trust I consdider the RFX well worth the additional cost. Not to mention the aggravation factor.

InkBird is a decent brand. They used to be a sponser here. And were offering good deals on their items. I've only had 2 items from them go bad so far. A vacuum sealer that wouldn't vacuum through the vacuum port. And a instant read that just failed. I left it outside overnight. And it rained. Would have been fine. Except I didn't have the cover on the charge port.

Maybe a single desenter here but didn't have much luck with the Temp-Spike. One of the two probes failed to charge after only two uses. Oh well, guess it can happen but that ended my dip into less expensive solutions. I'm back with Thermoworks and will stay there. Now using their RFX and could not be more pleased. They are not inexpensive but to me well worth the price.

Tried an inkbird and it stopped charging after about four uses. Was a few weeks past warranty and would only give a discount on same model. No thanks. Have had zero issues with my thermoworks signals. Also have their rfx which has one probe that only lasts two hours but they will replace it once i call. Only issue with the rfx is you cant use it covered in tinfoil. Their customer service is top notch. Their instant read one model is top notch and highly recommended. I bought several for presents when go on sale.

I have used them and as others said they are a decent brand. I also have Thermoworks and Fireboard units. I have had the original Fireboard for 7+ years now and it still functions without issue. I also have the Fireboard 2(3+years), Thermoworks smoke(3years), RFx(less than a year), and others. You pay more for Fireboard and ThermoWorks but they last

My 4 probe also fails to charge now so I pass on their products. Even the near free or free trails that they offered. I also did not like the app that required you to share your location with them.

I have been debating about going to wireless/Bluetooth probes. This thread has been helpful.

To some extent I consider them a toy to play with. As with any battery based product there comes a time where the battery will no longer charge. I'm not certain I can justify the cost for what is essentially a throw-away product when the battery will no longer charge and it is not replaceable.

I think I'll stick with the three probe Vauno with the wired probes.

Nothing wrong with wired probes. I still have and use a 4 probe Signals unit from Thermoworks.
Now if using a rotisserie, it's wireless (RFX) to the rescue.

Thanks for the replies and your experiences with the products.

My Inkbird lasted a long time so I'm not disappointed with the use I got out of it. Thermoworks has a strong reputation with their Thermapen, but I wasn't sure about the other products and have seen similar negative reviews online as some here stated.

I avoided the Meater when it first came out since they seem to have connectivity problems, but it seems like the newer versions have resolved some of the issues. The price is still pretty steep though. Not having to manage wires is a really nice feature. I think I'll sit on this decision for a bit and try to catch something on sale.

Tried Meater2+, hate the app, blootooth. Use RFX for 1)Rotis, 2)SV, 3)Frying and frankly lots of other times as well. Absolutely satisfied. Range is absolutely unbelievable, last nite I did steak & spud: Gateway on patio door, RFX1 in steak in 10ga Yoder across the yard (some 60’) and RFX2 in the potato in the kitchen oven (some 40’ away, thru walls, etc). Worked perfectly!
Only dropped sig to steak when I tented with foil for rest prior to searing. Thought it was the distance but (DOH!) remembered I’d tented the RFX in there as well <head slap!>. Once I exposed the end of the probe, it lit up again. Ok, momentary brain f*rt; the RFX hates being covered in foil.
Anyway, absolutely love RFX.

Hopefully I don't make this too long...

Started with:
*the single probe INT 11P-B. the case doesn't do well to being outside, but over time it does need to be within 10ft of the cook and PLUGGED IN. pro e itself is fine and it goes in the dishwasher.

*The 4 probe INT 14-BW was next. Works great. Can get about 50ft from the cook with no obstruction in-between. Charging station has been out in the rain with no problems. Probes also hit the dishwasher without issues.

* The 2 probe grill bliss IP67(technically InkBird) and have it in the app with the others. This one is a little funny acting though. Readings aren't always matching with the others. But, I only use them up to a certain temp either way then pull for resting cook time to be factored in. Does well outside within 15ft and they also go in the dishwasher.

*Just got the single probe CharMeter ISVT-11B (technically InkBird and goes in their app as well). Was tricky setting up, my 7 year old ended up getting it going. Go figure. Case is a tad flimsy'er than the others and needs to be next to your cook. Haven't gotten it rained on yet. Probe does match temps as the others so no issues there. Also went in the dishwasher.

As far as charging times, a couple hours to fully charged. The 14-bw and grill bliss have went days without charging and still had plenty juice left.

*Have the Smoker Temp Controller with fan and 4 probes ISC-027-BW. Soon as I'm done with the cabinet smoker I'll report back.

I usually go for quantity over quality. I'd rather have 4 cheap chinese remote thermometers (2 in the meat; 2 in the cooker space to spot flareups) than one quality unit. But these are all units with a short cable leading out of the smoker and then transmit to your remote unit from there. The beauty of the Meater is it works with a rotisserie...no cords at all to twist...which I occasionally like to do.

I think there are other truly wireless Meater competitors but everyone complains they don't work well in an all-metal smoker or grill. I suppose you could rotisseries with the lid up or off, but it would sure take longer.

Addendum: the Meater knock-offs are under $20 now. I'll see how this $17 model works out:

I bought a Bfour ( off shore) brand off Amazon just for resting and holding briskets so I don't have to have wires hanging out of my warming box, it was.50 bucks and I gotta say, the thing is great. The bluetooth signal goes through the warmer,towels, tinfoil, no issues.
