I have only done it in the kitchen in the Mexican style so far.

I have not personally, but have been to a BBQ where it was. My only suggestion would be to use some sort of drip pan depending on what smoker because they will drip a LOT of fat/grease/whatever out of it depending on the cut. It was good though if you like goat, I'll pretty much eat anything with a heartbeat so I enjoyed it.
